wait AMT does ban without warning or reason tho
Um... they do exactly that, fairly frequently.
Hello! I have a few more clarifications and other things from my meeting today:
  • I'll reiterate what I said earlier about concern about using scripts. You're fine unless you're doing something you know is wrong, like scamming or running scripts that are so powerful that they're damaging the website or causing problems for other workers. Me running HIT Scraper to search for HITs I want to do isn't nearly enough to break MTurk or cause other problems, so things like that are fine.
  • I did ask about HIT Database and similar scripts that save/store information on the worker's computer. I would not be worried about that.
  • If a worker is doing something that raises a red flag at Amazon, you're not going to be outright suspended immediately. They will send a warning email (the one that says "we've noticed unusual activity with your account"). If you send an email back and ask what the problem was, they will tell you exactly what they noticed and what the concern is. They should not be replying with a generic "you just violated the participation agreement" type of email and should be saying exactly what the problem was that they noticed. If you get an automated or unhelpful response to your inquiry, please tell me and I will follow up because that should not be happening now.
Well, at least I'll try to hope that's true

To add onto this, depression is, in fact, chemical. Anyone who tells someone to "just solve a problem" isn't experiencing clinical depression. I've chatted with a lot of folks here about what's going on with us, and time and time again I hear (and true for myself as well) that I want to change, I TRY to change, but it just isn't happening. I had severe PPD with my second. I tried FOR A YEAR to "fix the problem" myself. I have a chemical imbalance. The only "solution" to my "problem" (it's not one btw) was getting on the right medication.
well, just to give an example to maybe clear things up... one of the things that makes me clinically depressed is the fact that my brother (33 years old) has an incurable form of lung cancer. All they can do is slow it down with chemo, but it keeps coming back. All research indicates that he probably has around 5-10 years to live at best. And he is a single father with 2 kids that are in elementary school. If he were suddenly cured one day, I could really see myself being a lot happier.

Vanyanka @Vanyanka is correct guys. As a social worker my 2 cents is this. There is situational depression, someone is ill or a loved one is, grief, trauma etc...situational depression is considered a normal reaction to an abnormal situation. After a period of time passes with no improvement, usually 6 months with no response to counseling or time from onset, then we progress the Dx to clinical depression. But not all cases of clinical depression have a defining moment of onset, just as some begin with an event others begin for no reason whatsoever, and are purely chemical in nature.
