You don't need to bury them in the yard, they'll just come back to life the next Christmas that way. They usually get picked up with the trash and taken to a facility where the proper rites and rituals are performed to quieten their spirits and safely dispose of them.

We decided it was more fun to have a fire hazard for a yard ornament.

Yes! I love the vanilla ones. The orange and lemon are great, too. It's so weird, though. It's like I totally forget that these things even exist throughout the rest of the year. Then Halloween comes around and I'm like, "Oh, these things!"
