So is HIT Notifier practically like whoever clicks accept the quickest gets the HIT?

I've clicked on plenty right when I get the notification and I get told it's already gone.

all hitnotifier does is list various HITs that people have posted on the selected forums.
therefore, you can potentially see tasks that other forums have posted without having to comb through one or another forums

it can have uses even for people that run a scraper their entire time, because the 3 second delay or so in HF, for example, might miss a specific hit that HN ends up extracting and displaying.

it also has uses for people that can't run a scraper, like if someone's at work, on mobile on their break, while they're allowed to use their phone.
it can potentially be a useful tool for other applications, too
