I don't think this is one of those times. Usually, when there's no contact information, it's planned at the start to just steal the data and leave. Especially when its a high paying HIT that has no qualifications necessary.
Does Amzingzon get their payment info before they launch hits for them? Maybe turk reverses some of them that have had mass rejections. I don't know, I'm asking more than stating.

I get the anger, but I am a firm believer in the whole more flies with honey approach. You can always scream at them later but atleast give them a chance to do the right thing before you tear their head off. <----- Speaking in general, not just to you.
I've heard tell that said approach can be useful ;P

HITs have to be prepaid before the requester can post them. If they reject HITs, they get their money back for those HITs. Amazon doesn't keep it. Amazon can't reverse rejections for requesters without their permission, though. The Terms of Service say that a requester can reject if they want and don't have to pay for HITs they don't accept.

Requesters have to prepay before they even post the hit. Running off with data and money doesn't even make sense. Sometimes rejections like this are the same copy pasted posts every time, just with the names of requesters changed.

Not that this is at you or your post in particular i think insta-pitchforks in general is just nonsense and will probably poke at everyone every time it happens.

Wow, so the official Amazon stance is that they want your business, and I'm assuming they keep the fee for posting the hits, but the worker assumes all the risk. So we're just left tossing in the wind, nice.

No, Amazon doesn't keep the fee if the requester rejects the HIT. The requester gets their full payment back. But yes, the risk is all on the worker.

I just wish we had something of a safety net against stuff like this provided by Amazon. I get that Bezos thinks we are all just slave labor, but seriously, there's got to be someone in the mTurk offices that understands if enough workers leaves mTurk is dead.

Interesting that they even forego their fee. Learn new things every day. I just feel bad for those who gave their time. I for one will return any hit lacking any sort of contact information and 0 reviews in the future, I tend to stay away from them anyhow, but this has reinforced the desire to do so. Hope it works out for those who contributed.

As much as I'm bitching about this right now, I wouldn't go that far. Too much money is made from "unaffiliated" requesters. As peachy would say "scared peaches don't make peaches."

Unfair as it sounds they are within their rights to do that. There's a thin line they could cross that would make them responsible for our taxes and SS. This way we're merely disposable contract labor.

For every 1 worker currently on the platform, there are probably 10 more waiting.

They are turning away the vast majority of people that sign up right now.
Online workers are a dime a dozen.

The "lawyer" for Turk was the only one that seemed competent enough to understand what was going on at the time. He only answered me while suspended because I "threatened" arbitration. I was emailing 7 different Amazon employees that were in some way associated with mTurk and they never answered. I think it's more of an issue where they don't get paid enough to give a shit. They probably didn't expect me to gather up their emails, though. I know this isn't that related to your post for the most part, but the average person thinks of Amazon and their quite decent customer service and whatnot. The people behind mTurk are the exact opposite.
