My carafe spontaneously com-busted yesterday when I went to fill it with water. After cleaning up glass and sobbing on the kitchen floor wondering where it all went wrong, I ordered a replacement on Amazon that will be here tomorrow. I don't feel human without my coffee.

I would definitely try this in a coffee emergency. Two days without coffee is definitely an emergency - not even kidding.

one time i ran out of coffee filters and had literally zero money for the next few days...I cut up a white cotton t-shirt. it worked, but it was kinda weak
