Sometimes I actually do that but not often....I think in my head there is this thing that if it sits in open air for 30 seconds I will die of mad cow or something dairy related

How is the tea hotter than the hot water used to steep the tea? :shifty:
I don't know what you mean...

You put cold milk in the cup then add the hot tea to that, so the milk temperature changes slowly, instead of getting scalded by hot tea that's already in the cup if you add the milk to the tea.

I can't see any significant difference between how quickly the temperature changes from hot tea poured into cold milk than from cold milk poured into hot tea. Unless the missing step is to let the milk sit for ages in the cup until it hits room temp.
