My husband used it a few times for cluster headaches. I'm guessing it works like aspercreme or Icy Hot.

It's basically a menthol cone. 1% menthol in white soft paraffin base. Dead easy to make but messy. They use paraffin wax to harden it a little I think. We used to make them when I was at Uni. It was fun to make something that was actually useful.

I couldn't find the Head-On recently. I found the one for body aches and my wife says that one works on headaches too.

I just checked and the US version is different to the UK one.
Actually, the US version is homeopathic or at least was. Ingredient mostly paraffin wax, may have alcohol there to carry the homeopathic product, which will have the effect of cooling, same as the UK version. (If you actually think homeopathy does anything above placebo, then it might do more for you. as always YMMV )
