A bug somehow crawled into the water level gauge of my electric kettle.

Kettle looks like this:

The water level gauge is connected to the main compartment by a tiny little tube, and there is no way to access/open the water level gauge. So now I have a dead bug in there I can't get out.

My question: what liquid can I fill this with to dissolve the bug but not ruin the kettle?
some type of oil, vegetable or maybe mineral. myself I would just chuck it.

curious: anyone remember what the AA window is for the Weinstock hits? I thought it was only a couple days but it's been a looong time since I last did any of those up until this last batch hit.

As a poor turker I feel a certain resistance to throwing away an otherwise perfectly working $50 kettle
yea, understood, I would try either vegetable oil or maybe rubbing alcohol. There is also that shit called Goop, it works pretty good getting insect guts off of cars.

Leave it in there. Let it serve as a warning to the other bugs.

Why don't you try vinegar? Vinegar is an acid but totally natural and it will clean the inside of your kettle while you're at it.

why not just try very hot water?
Yeah, this was the first thing I tried. No luck.

It's been soaking in some boiling distilled vinegar all day. If this is going to work, it's very, very slow >.<

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

2 days hitting minimum goal...I'll take it. Can't wait for colleges to start in the Fall so there's more work.
Does that seem to help get more hits? I just started turking in January, so didn't really get into a good idea of what I was doing until around May, by then college was out.

I think the little critter is completely sanitized and harmless by now, and would just use it myself. :)
