I'll have to make a video. It would take a long time to explain. The gist of it is that I don't skimp on process; e.g. I don't use storebought cumin powder but toast the seeds and crush them myself. Same is true with buying chickpeas. A bad bag of dry peas is still going to taste better than a can.

He is entirely correct. Shit cumin tastes and smells just like armpits. We've all been worked up and know what that smells like. Some of us have had to go the entire day or more without rectifying it... and likely there is a chemical similarity between that and cumin seeds that have been sitting around forever.

Cheap foods: Spaghetti- you can eat on that for days. Don't use the jar sauce though. Mine is fantastic and simple: 1 pkg spaghetti (cook/drain), 1.5-2 lbs hamburger fried with onion add to spaghetti. 1 can tomato juice and whatever seasonings you like but I use a ton of chili and garlic powder. I layer that chili powder on, stir, and usually add another layer. Simple, easy, makes a ton of meaty and not as spicy as you'd think spaghetti.

If you love garlic though, toum is a great spread... drop a shitload of garlic gloves into a food processor (or pestle and mortar if going oldschool), some lemon juice, and a few pinches of salt. blend and drizzle in olive oil as you do until it creates a mayo-like paste.

PERFECT for bread spread and instant topping to create garlic bread.
