Yeah the website makes it look like it's limited but the app looks like that with more language options.
But Jason Momoa speaks English so don't worry about it

I looked around the forum and didn't see any threads about it. anyone here have any specific recs for trying to learn spanish online for reasonably cheap or free?

I actually have been working on my Spanish fluency for the past year and found the YouTube channel gringoespanol to be very helpful. He does a very good job explaining concepts and offering study techniques. I also use the quizlet app and have several Latin American friends that I speak to on the reg to keep me sharp/answer questions.

I found that things like Rosetta Stone and Duolingo were simply ineffective.

which is funny, because immersion is what rosetta stone says is its strong point

but you're right. if your only exposure is 5-20 minutes on a learning app...

Lack of immersion and endless repetition without any context.
But yeah, I had to move to Guatemala for three months to really get an ear for it.

I can actually understand quite a bit from listening, I just can't speak it for shit. I'm afraid to talk aloud in front of people because I know my pronunciation is horrible lol

That was actually my biggest problem. I am incredibly shy and vulnerable to negative criticism, but I met some really nice people who were just happy that I had an interest in their language. Practice in the mirror, speak to anyone who loves you enough to listen and it will come. (^_^)

that's when you should speak it, most folks ain't going to make fun of the pronunciation, other then a chuckle maybe. But they will correct you and help you. go for it
