I don't think anyone (other than teachers) realizes how much work lesson plans are! (Or that more paperwork doesn't necessary make you a better teacher )

When I taught (7th grade English years ago), I spent more time writing lesson plans than I actually did teaching. It was such a wash. Eventually I learned how to mail them in, but even then it was still a bunch of work and basically for nothing. The paperwork is one of the reasons I got out of teaching; combined with being in the classroom it was pretty much 80 hour work weeks during the school year.
