Just an FYI, Pew is blocking anyone that does around $500 worth of their HITs for the year.
If Pew is responsible for doing 1099's (instead of AMT) on the AMT platform, I wonder if this is to avoid having to issue those 1099's for paying someone more than $600 in a tax year.

I don't see why they would be. I've never been issued a 1099 by a requester. Admittedly I haven't been issued a 1099 by anyone for a while.

That's exactly what it is. Amazon isn't clear on how they handle 1099s, so Pew is just erring on the side of caution by cutting people off before they reach that point.

astros are in arlington next week to play the rangers

ive never seen the astros play at a visiting ballpark before

part of me wants to splurge
I'd save the bucks for next season when the Rangers play in their brand new ballpark unless you really have your mind set on attending a game at Globe Life in its final season.

it's weird watching your team on the road - In 1994, my family went to Colorado Springs to check the city out and to attend an Albuquerque Dukes game while we were up there and the Dukes were playing the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. It's so weird to root for your team in a different ballpark that isn't the home team.

I am shocked it's not AMT's responsibility. I thought the arrangement is that the requesters paid AMT listing and task payment fees so it would be up to AMT to pay those task payment amounts to workers when the HIT is approved and AMT would be the ones issuing the 1099's since the payment was from AMT and not the requester.

Well, I think it is Amazon's. What I meant was that because Amazon is unclear on how they handle that, Pew isn't sure if it's something that's going to fall on them. So they're trying to avoid any potential issues by just not letting people reach that threshold.

This is what they said in email this morniing:
"You're right that the limit is for tax reasons - but mainly because Amazon is completely non-transparent as to what they actually do when workers hit the independent contractor threshold. I've heard that they have sent out 1099s in the past, but not always, and since it's completely confusing and there's no clear info on it we decided to be cautious."

anyone have a chair mat for carpet floor? medium to high pile? way more frustrating than I thought looking on amazon.
two of them. I don't want my chairs tearing up the carpet. Apartment has short haired fibers (short pile?) so I have a mat for that and then my dad's house has medium pile so I have a different mat for my workspace at his house.

AFAIK, the difference in mats is the length of the spikes that go down into the carpet. I think if it's longer carpet fibers, the spikes are longer than if the carpet has short length fibers.

It's all in their gameplan to do as Alibaba does in terms of transparency. Best way to keep China out of the US is to beat them at their own game.

Amazon definitely sends them out. Even though Amazon is as clear as mud about it, it's not the requester's responsibility and hasn't been for a number of years. I'm not sure if that will be enough to convince the requester not to block but its worth a shot.

Since when are the requesters responsible for tax forms. I thought that was something through Mturk.. they auto issue if you hit a certain amount or you have to request if under.. least thats how it used to be.. I wanna say its 20k or more

Well, they mentioned that the current project is done, and that they'll move to qual blocks instead when they come back later in the year. So hopefully, they'll at least stop issuing real blocks.
