Greetings from Amazon Mechanical Turk,

You've received a bonus from Online Research Studies for work related to 3HA5ODM5KA4SDSZZQUMD3X8XPPZSVK.
The value of your bonus is: $2.40 USD

The Requester included this note:
Hi everyone,

We were sorry to see that our task took you much longer to complete than we anticipated, and we appreciate that some of you have reached out to bring this to our attention.

It's sometimes difficult to predict how long these tasks will take. A similar task with more parts was completed in 25 minutes by one set of workers, and our own internal pilot testing suggested that this task could be completed in 20, so we advertised and paid according to those estimates. It seems now that that estimate was inaccurate, and the median time to complete this HIT was 40 minutes. We are committed to making sure that all of our workers are compensated fairly, so we are providing everyone who took part in this task an additional $2.40 for taking part.

We always appreciate all of the workers who help us complete our research, and it's a priority that our group pays fair wages to everyone who helps us. We apologize again that our estimate was so far off, and we'll be more careful providing estimates for future research we conduct. We hope that you will continue to work with us and bring to our attention any other issues you might have with any of our tasks.

Thank you again for completing this task, and we will be working on providing you the bonus from the end of the study promptly, as well.

Thanks for being a Worker on Mechanical Turk!

Determination and fate I was hoping. But you're right about that, especially where I am going into Colorado Springs is pretty expensive. I actually have a friend out there who could get me a job installing cable services as a last resort, but I'm scared of heights and I know that job calls for occasional heights.

I was thinking on trying Costco for starters because they pay well I heard. Otherwise than that I need to figure something out soon because this is my move and Im going to be making it very soon. Thankfully I Have this (Mturk) to generate at least a little income . But my friend wants me to save 4K before I even go out there which is obviously going to require me to get a real job. sigh.

Other thing is my half of rent and utilities for the house hes staying at will be 1K + (yikes)

I'm a mess
My husband and I lived in CO for 3 years, and by the time we left last October I have never been so glad to see such natural beauty in a rear view mirror. There's no jobs, no housing - it was literally cheaper for us to build a house than buy one - and it was only getting worse. I was a department manager at Safeway for the last year before we left, and it was a nightmare - no one can afford to live there, so no one stays in their jobs, so your own job (if you have one) is a nightmare hellscape of understaffed, underpaid stress. We worked 40 hour weeks in non-minimum wage jobs with a mortgage less than $900 a month and still couldn't even save enough for a vacation once a year. (No kids, no debt.)

I'm not saying this to put you off; it's your life, fuck it, do what you want. But the green rush is very, very real and I would encourage you to have more concrete plans before you up and leave because for every one of you, there's 10 more rich dicks buying all the land and charging people like us through the asshole to live there.

No joke, been outta CO almost a year and I'm still consistently amazed how much cheaper everything is

God bless the Midwest

So much this. Seattle is pretty and all, but I so can't wait to finish school and get out. Then (hopefully, presumably) go somewhere Midwestern where normal people can afford to, you know, be alive.

it bears repeating:

Western WA and CO sound like they have a lot in common, unfortunately

I don't post a whole lot, but my suggestion is and always has been to go back through the old posts on the forum to see what good requesters or jobs others have posted and build your favorites up with that. To me, the little search button at the top of the page gives me more information than anything else. So my favorite requestedr is "Me" as I use that little spyglass at the top.

and ya wanna know somethin' else about doin' your own searchin'...?

Ya just never know when you're gonna stumble across the answers to questions that ya didn't even know you had yet ?

Yeah but you gotta stop telling people about it or they'll all move there from the coasts. Let them think it's a barren wasteland.

interesting. there's tons of jobs in CO in my field of work and most areas except downtown Denver are cheaper than where i live now. Interesting to see different perspectives.

Don't worry, that isn't nearly as likely as you might think. The coastal snobbery is real.

I will say it's interesting in the midwest... I have friends who didn't go to college and walked into 16-20/hour jobs and cheap housing. However, I really really hate tornados and corn.

Too slow for me today so I decided to fix the backdoor. In the process I fell off the step, cut my back (I'm ok) and ripped one of my favorite shirts but the door is finally fixed!!!

Every time I fix something I get this unreasonably huge ego boost for the rest of the day. You guys should have seen me after I changed my own wipers on the car last week. You'd think I had rebuilt the engine the way I was strutting around the house ?

Oh, it's real, and it's spectacular. I live there. :)
Yeah, as someone who not only grew up there but was a particularly bad offender (until I researched and talked to people for many dozens of hours) I feel okay calling it out.

The really fun part is that people who are old enough remember when the snobs moved *to* the West Coast. History's a really big place.

Wonder what the relationship will be like in 100 years.
