the eyeroll is tame compared to the ones at this other forum
they have a F U, a kiss my ass, eat shit, DIE Mutha#@#@#@

and then some really bad ones
I was talking to someone the other day about internet etiquette and such and I brought up my time spent on usenet boards back in the 1990s. Talk about sharp elbows those places didn't give a crap if someone got their feelings hurt. People got called names repeatedly, and if you made a dumb post about the the board's area of interest, you got called on it immediately and it was made crystal clear to you that you dun fucked up and you're also an idiot. For all the talk about incivility on social media, I think it was far worse back in the 1990s. Maybe it was just the mods on the boards I frequented were dicks, though.

thick skin is a requirement to internet
They're trying to change that with all the censoring and such. I lived about half my life before the internet so it never bothered me when someone told me to go kill myself after I referred to the wrong actor in some low budget 1970s horror movie. I also did my fair share of bullying obvious trolls who were shitting up the boards with bad posts. I usually never bullied new people coming in who just wanted to be a part of the community. Plenty of people did, though, including (incredibly) most of the mods. You'd figure they would want to grow the community, but I think in some cases they just wanted an echo chamber. But yeah generally I never take anything negative said about me online seriously. I don't report posts either because who cares?

It's like when I'm at work. Leave my soul at the door and pick it up on the way back out. I am always amazed at how many people get their feelers hurt so easily. I'm like HTFU.
