wonder why we don't see surveys about how we are going to cope when our cell phones are shut off and the cable and Internet shut down because we can't pay for them. yep, I'd like to see some surveys about that.

They want to keep the masses calm, they've got to provide the bread and circuses. The internet is our circus. And a single stimulus check(that many people won't get) won't buy much bread...not even if I make my own.

and these companies are going to be able to keep the system up without money coming in? Are workers going to go out and fix it without pay? It sounds like an easy fix but think it through. These companies are the worst if you don't pay and they will do auto shut off.

And as you pointed out, the bill always come due. What everyone is assuming is that this is a temporary stand down and not a great depression...The last one--in the 1930 s-- started the same way(but without the plague).

The government could nationalize the internet business if it came right down to it. There's no way they can afford to have any significant sector of the public cut off from cable and internet because relatively few people have antenna TV these days.

You don't nationalize business in this country. Business doesn't like it and Republicans won't allow it...and to put things here in perspective...the internet is free in some countries. And reasonably cheap in many others. And anyone can have antenna TV. Just put in an antenna and install it. I did that once upon a time.(There are also fairly strong indoor antennas, too)
