Today is Memorial Day and that means we take the time to give thanks for those who have served our country past and present. We take a moment in reflection to offer affection and respect for those who are with us still and most especially to those who paid the ultimate price in duty and service. On a far less somber note in a laboratory in outer Transylvania one year ago today I took to the ether to begin a mad experiment called Amazon Mechanical Turk. A few weeks into my night time meanderings I happened upon another place full of the odd and unusual with promises of $30 a day and a camaraderie of the strangely inclined. I stayed and while the venue changed the people didn't. Most of you I have known my entire time on MTurk. One year, 3908 HITs, and $1475 dollars later I'm ready to enter Year 2 with the same band of malcontents, night owls, and survey masters. Thanks for being around and stay weird. I'm proud to have spent a year in your company.
