Results are in.

34 percent of you, correctly, believe that a hot dog is a sandwich. The remaining 66% are on the wrong side of history.

Also, many of you think that a sandwich is only a sandwich if there are two distinct slices of bread. Subway sandwiches go directly in opposition to his idea. Additionally, when the flimsy hot dog buns you cheaped out on split down the middle, does the hot dog suddenly become a sandwich? Sounds wishy washy to me.

I will actually end up using this in my classroom. I use a modified version of this exercise as an intro to rhetoric and discussion. Hot dogs are always a sticking point, and now I have data to back up the dissent.
*snooty voice* I learned they were sandwiches in culinary school, mmmmkay?
A hand-held food consisting of a filling of food or foods- contained (can be in, wrapped, folded, etc... doesn't have to be two pieces...) by bread, or the bread product of a culture. (ie, tacos & burritos with tortillas)

I have cat, and that doesnt happen
ok. kitten. but cats are all different anyway.

my ex ran a cat rescue, and we'd also take in people's cats during the week and every wednesday and friday, we'd take them and get them fixed, get their shots, and give them frontline flea treatment - it helped people because we charged very little, and they didn't have to worry about population control, among other things.

in four years, over five thousand different cats had slept in my room, most slept on my bed at one point or another. note - we never had more than 50 cats at a time. and the actual cats would change daily, usually. we kept a clean house, as well. 11 litter boxes, changed three times per day, trips to the dump made every morning so the neighbors didn't have to abide by the cat litter smell.

Right, burritos end up being as deep of a rabbit hole as hot dogs. Do we really kick out wraps from the genus sandwich just to exclude burritos?

We end up talking about a ton of hot button issues over the course of the semester in my class but it never gets as heated as the second day discussion of sandwiches and hot dogs and so on.

Wait... tacos ARE sandwiches? Everything I've ever known is a lie.
