I am not a fan of penny hits in the least... I think they are a waste of time. But it honestly sounds like you need to up your scripting game a bit... remember that writing a script is an act of creation. There's no reason your solution can't be creative, efficient, and elegant. A blunt instrument isn't the only kind of tool one can employ.
