So long as you have a mouse. I loved the trackpad on my old Thinkpad but that fucker nearly caught on fire. Mouse far outweighs the trackpad once you start learning how to script and bind them to a mouse via x-mouse or whatever other programs are out there.
I hate laptop pads in general so I vote a real mouse.
It's up to your own preference, but *me*, I absolutely HATE trackpads.
If it makes you feel any better, if there was a runner-up award you'd win by a mile. Or finish as a runner-up at least.

@Barf recommended I kill myself rather than keep using a trackpad. So that's just one opinion on trackpads for everyone to ponder.
I use a trackpad, but mainly because I don't have a mouse, and I also suck at turking.
