Hi all,

This is my first time posting here. I am representing the "$60 HIT" that takes 10 hours from SelfConcept that was discussed in yesterday's thread. I'm not entirely sure if this is the best place to post this, but since the HIT is ongoing and because I will be posting more assignments in the future, I thought I would try to clear up some misconceptions.

The "$60 HIT" people did in the past was a Pilot HIT for this current project. Unfortunately, that HIT was filled with technical issues. While most people were able to eventually complete the HIT and get paid the full $60 (plus extra for the worker's wasting some time on technical issues), some people were unable to complete the entire HIT.

Without completing the whole HIT, the HIT does not submit and we cannot pay you (this is an Mturk thing). However, if this happens we instructed the workers to contact us. Every worker who contacted us had a "dummy" HIT made to pay them for their time. I have responded to every email that has come to us and tried to address all issues and pay people for their time.

This new HIT has resolved almost all of the technical issues. As I hear about the ones that remain (which are minor), I fix them well within the time that a person needs to complete the HIT.

Overall, I understand the hesitation and anxiety surrounding this HIT. It is a long HIT and it must be nerve-racking to devote a great deal of time to work without the full confidence that you will be paid. I am posting here to put a voice to this HIT and communicate our earnest intention to pay every worker for their time, just as I hope each worker earnestly completed our HIT for our research.

Some reviews on turkopticon mention the demanding nature of the HIT, and that is true. It does require your full attention. For some, that may make this HIT less than ideal. I hope for others it proves interesting. Regardless, workers should feel confident that they will be paid for their time. If there are any problems (and you are working on one of our HITs), please email us!

I'm happy to answer questions, which I'll get to as quickly as I can. Running the HIT, analyzing the data, making the fixes to the tasks, and responding on the forum can be a lot, so just have some patience!
