yeah. But. Mom guilt. I'm supposed to cook healthy meals. At least that's what it said in the instruction manual that came with my kid when he popped out.
I just fed my kids nachos for dinner. They were homemade. I dumped a bunch of stuff on top of some chips and microwaved it :)

Does anyone else find they have to have a tv on or something to turk or they actually get more distracted if they don't? it makes no sense, but I was doing so well staying on track for a whole 20 min or so, realized i was totally wandering again, then realized that my dumb netflix had done their...wow all i can think of to call it is an 'attention check'..the 'are you still watching' thing? anyway i am back to work....
I've been this way my whole life. I had to have the TV on (or talk radio) all through grad school so I could focus. Music actually distracts me more and makes me want to get up and dance.

I ALWAYS have the tv on when I'm turking. I'm more distracted if I don't have the noise in the background.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some silence, but when I need to focus I need noise I don't have to pay attention to (don't talk to me, I can't tune that out! I broke up with a dude in grad school who couldn't understand how the TV didn't bug me, but him talking right at me did...seriously?)

I would rather that we not fill this thread with judgements about a recommendation that some students made to help trans people feel included at their school. I would appreciate it if this discussion were to just end here.

I absolutely relate to all of that, trying to explain this to my mother while in high school did not work, I wasn't allowed to have tv on on school nights, lol its almost like a 'pre-emptive' distraction maybe?

I'm sure I can find research on this to explain why it works for some of us. Betting it has to do with preventing our brains from recognizing noises we SHOULD listen to, therefore we can more focus on the task in front of us. I go to sleep with the TV on most nights, too. If it's silent I hear EVERY FREAKY NOISE in my house. I try and judge noises I have to get up for by my dog. If she reacts, I need to get out of bed, But maybe she can't hear them due to the tv either, lol
