There's definitely a spectrum - like with Autism. Some people have it severely, others mildly, and others only border on having it at all. I consider myself lucky, somewhat, because although my obsessions are horrible (related to gore), my compulsions are mild and almost silly. I count syllables on every finger on each hand until I've started and stopped with each, so it ends "evenly". There are much more extreme compulsions, hence why I consider myself to be a lucky one.

Anyway, food for thought, if you actually want to know if you have it.

I've always suspected it, but I feel like a diagnosis would hurt my job, on the other hand, some of the traits actually help me with my job, so I'm at an impasse.

Yep, it's massively misunderstood, like most things related to mental health. Most people don't even know that there's a wide variety of OCD, for instance. But it's nothing to worry about in general if you cope fine with it. If it interferes with day to day life, that's when you have to start taking it seriously.
