Good morning all. I know this was probably answered yesterday, but did everyone get this message from Research Task?

We would like to emphasize that it is very important that you answer the question using as few words as possible i.e. avoid forming phrases or sentences and only include the relevant part of the answer. Eg: For the question, "How many people are smiling?", your answer should be "3" and not "there are 3 people smiling". If you are found to be not following the instructions, your work will be rejected. Also, please do not confuse the answer with your confidence about the answer. Use the confidence button to indicate how certain you are about your entered answer so we can estimate uncertainty. Please use it accordingly and avoid usage of words indicating uncertainty as the answer. Good Job! Thank you for your work.

I know I made sure to give 1 word/number answers and I used their shortcuts.
I got that email as well and I was confused as to why I was getting it. I think they are just trying to clarify about that new batch. I told them that batch was underpaid and needs to be bumped up to 10 cents.

It's my first block and I'm really trying not to cry
The long face horse joke helped with that
but its depressing seeing so many people going thru this
(my only hope is that it was a mistake)

Blocks issued by requesters are all functionally the same. A block is a block. Some requesters use quals to prevent workers from doing their HITs and that's a better method of "blocking", but any time you get the "The Requester (Pinterest) has chosen to prevent you from working on any of this Requester's HITs" message, that's a block regardless of whether or not you got an email from Amazon.
but the qual blocks won't make you look bad in amazon's eyes/lead to suspension, where as the "hard block"/emails will?

no, i guess that would be the one i was blocked from? I never saw that one, but got the weird black hits from pc, and when i clicked to try to go to one it said the requester blocked me from it. plus the email.

So Pinterest is blocking people now? does anyone have the PANDAs so I can check and see if they blocked me. I did that $2 HIT yesterday and I think that is the first time I had done their stuff.

A qualification is just that. Requesters use qualifications all the time to include/exclude certain workers so a requester issuing you a qualification or changing a qualification value that stops you from participating is a normal function of MTurk.

A requester going into the platform and clicking the "BLOCK WORKER" button does somehow alert MTurk and as mordea @mordea said, it seems like lots of them can lead to account suspension. When a block email is sent out (and sometimes one gets sent when you get blocked and sometimes one doesn't get sent and no one knows why), it even says in the email that too many blocks in a short of an amount of time can lead to account suspension. But no one except Amazon knows what "too many" blocks is and how short or long that "amount of time" is.

Whew, well I am glad I wasn't the only one but not glad we all got it. Makes me feel a little better. We are in the process of moving into our new (to us) house so I haven't had much time to turk and these were good fillers.

As long as you're not a dick about it it should be fine.
OK.

Can we add something at the top about this. I haven't gotten blocked (fingers crossed) but I stopped using copytext to clear captchas when I saw the first person get blocked. People need to know to stop doing it.
