So is the rest of the year going to be slow like this or will it pick up after Thanksgiving?
Usually Christmas-New Years week will get slow but it's hard to say overall. Sometimes one requester can make the difference between a really slow week and a really good week.

The amount of good work available has actually increased over the years. The problem now is there are just too many workers, and fast ones. Years ago, most good batches of 1500-4500 hits would last a little bit of time. Now it's routine to see anything above a certain hourly literally melt in less than 10 mins. A couple good batches used to mean a good day. These days it's quick bump, maybe a queue or two worth, and back to humping half-decent filler or waiting around.

The whole scripting arms race is a real double-edged sword. I use publicly available scripts too so I shouldn't throw stones but part of me longs for the days of 3-4 years ago.
