Should I start getting into transcription hits? I usually just ignore them. I've only transcribed a handful of things.

I would not do transcription here. There are transcription companies that hire newbies. Standard rate is $1/audio minute without requiring a rush turnaround. I haven't seen that here, ever.

I used to do Crowdsurf hits ALL the time, just to make a little money and pass the time. But, even with a bonus, if you end up making 8 cents for a little less than a minute, plus waiting on a hit to load, or sifting through audio you can't understand, or it seems too difficult, etc, it usually ended up being like 5 cents per minute after taking all that into account.

So, the rate already is bad, but take into account the time spent, you're making almost nothing. And Crowdsurf has a bonus structure that is REALLY hard to get (125 hits at 3.75 rating /etc) as the reviews are REALLY weighted. Miss a small thing it goes to a 3, miss something that isn't actually wrong, but the editor thought it was, your score is even lower.

I won't touch them nowadays.

so anyone try the at&t $35 directvnow streaming video thing? there $60 pkg is $35 now, theres a pay for 3 months get apple tv thing free deal. (so $105 total)

Anyway I saw some problems with it, at first, prob. because it's new, but there's been a few things I wouldn't mind having it for, don't want to pay full satellite or cable tv prices. except no CBS/big bang theory. boo. But also wanted an appletv (well actually the chrome version but whatever) thing for my non-smart TV anyway. for amazon and netflix. no contract if i don't like it.
And it has baby tv that still fascinates my 4 and 5 year olds when they are hyper at bed time and nothing else works. which...wow im getting old and lazy, my 'first' set of kids (now 19 through 22 yrs) I never would have even considered that lol)

So anyone tried it?

It isn't bad *but* they seem to be having problems with capacity. A lot of problems with buffering/disconnects at night (when assumedly most people are using the service). Also keep in mind if your HSI provider has a usage cap, that's going to count towards it.
