does this literally happen on every transaction with a chip reader? just got a chipped card a few days ago

idk who's bright idea was it to make the new chip readers at stores make that noise like your card is declined when a transaction goes thru
but they should be fired

That noise is to let you know to take out your card so you don't accidentally leave it in the machine.
