Question:

When you take a HIT study from a grad student on Mturk, and the compensation works out to $3/hour in their HIT description.... And you do the work anyway because it's slow and you need the dough, but write the grad student, sharing that their research study pays far less than federal minimum wage....

And they write you saying that they didn't intend for it to be employment, and they are a poor grad student who gets paid far less than this for their work, and after all, it's for RESEARCH...

What are your thoughts, feelings, actions? I'm curious.
I would forward them the link to Guidelines for Academic Requesters so they had that information, write a TO review about it, and then move on. If they don't want to pay fairly, that's their choice. It's also my choice not to work for those types of requesters.

I leave TO, block the requester, and move on.

They really should make microwavable food for weedheads, as people call them, that only take 4 minutes and 20 seconds to cook. That way it would be super easy to remember and provide plenty of innocent laughter.
I've gotten the pot giggles twice, they were amazing. But I couldn't stop and I thought I was going to die :poke:

I wouldn't link them to this document. It indicates $6 per hour is acceptable pay.

It was updated and edited several months ago to remove that. The "$6 an hour" figure was replaced with the statement: "Underpayment of crowd workers is anything less than the current federal minimum wage in the United States." It then goes on to explain several points about why workers accept different amounts and researchers pay different amounts.

Awesome! Thanks, I'll start sharing it again.

Oh, you're high on top of your mountain of woe. You know you should surrender but you can't let go.

Still not working for me.
EDIT: Working but pretty slow.
Ended up stuck on loading. I wrote to the requester but will probably just let it expire.
