My fear of 30 was mostly the result of being raised to believe nothing is more important than success. I thought you had to have everything figured out by 30 and there was no room for mistakes after that. Which anyone older than 30 knows is complete shit. Anyone younger than 30 with the same belief, I'm telling you right now it's complete shit

I'm going back to school and in the process of changing careers at 40 because surprise, surprise the life path I chose at 14 doesn't reflect my grown up interests, life goals or the vastly different economy I live in today.

That's really interesting. I was also on a path young, but ended up derailed in college, and ended up with a career while I was still in school. At 30 I left that entire field,moved back to my hometown, and was starting on something totally new, so my birthday was barely a blip in things making me anxious.

I still haven't got everything figured out and that's okay. The one thing that I have figured out is that at the end of the day it doesn't matter. I don't look at life as a race but as a beautiful stroll along a path lined with all kinds of interesting things. As long as I stop to notice them I have a greater appreciation for the small things. I lived a long time trying to avoid negative situations from occurring but they are a part of life that everyone will go through at various times. So instead of worrying about what happens next I just live each day as it comes and tackle what is before me the best way I can.

If I don't like something I make the effort to change it. I still have a ways to go and a lot to learn so this could all change in another 10 years.
