I just mindlessly stuck my hand over the spout of a boiling kettle and steam-cleaned my palm. I don't think there's any serious damage, but there's definitely, like, some pain involved.

Anyone got a good home remedy for minor burns?
vanilla, lavender EO

Ow! :( Cold water (a cold washcloth is good) and maybe some ibuprofen to help with swelling. That's no fun.

I always heard cool not cold, in case your nerve endings were damaged, it wouldn't damage them further by going to the other extreme. Seconding the ibuprofen, though.

Cold water is good for the first minute or so but after that cool to warm is best for restoring circulation.

Yeah, that's why I said a cold washcloth and not ice. A cold washcloth with water from the tap isn't going to be too cold, and will warm up quickly. :)

Yeah, if I'm asked for a "cold" washcloth, I tend to tie one with ice cubes inside, which is why I make the distinction. I scalded the everloving out of my hand a couple months back and just ended up filling a silicone oven mitt with cool water and leaving my hand in it. >.>
