I'm having trouble finding hits that can get be anything greater than $6/hour, not sure what I am doing wrong.

You aren't doing anything "wrong". Hits that pay well don't last long. Usually good paying hits are completed or put in queue seconds after they are posted to MTurk. You just have to watch vigilantly and remember which requesters post good hits.

Those are different. I haven't tried those yet. Just these checking to see if the sentences were written correctly

Is hit scraper a good way to be looking for these hits? What are good hit scraper settings for scraping batch hits?

Either Hit Scraper or Hit Finder.

Low pay, minimum 1 or 2 cents. Fast refresh maybe 3 or 4 seconds.

I remember when I started, I read everything I could get my hands on. Everyone has their own setup that works for them: dependent on the HITs they enjoy, their goals and overall MTurk knowledge. This is a great place to get started and you may uncover a few resources to add to your arsenal. It's going to be slow going at first, so take your time, learn and ease into it!

I used to feel the same way. The key for me was learning a little bit of ahk and javascript. It seems daunting at first, but a lot of nice folks on this board help when questions arise.

90% of the time I'll end up using the same functions over and over on new batches. Once you understand the basics of it, and I'm guessing you do since you majored in it for a while, you dont need to perfect it.

Thanks for the information. I definitely need to read more. I am actually not new, I have over 8,000 HITs completed since 2015. I stopped early 2016 and am now just starting to get back into it. I never really got too deep into it.
