Lots of people end up with Unlawful Detainers on their records and never know it, especially if they were in a roommate situation.

Also, that court/case index you used? Awesome tool to look up people...from potential romantic partners to coaches, teachers, friends, etc.

I have found out a few things about people that made me way more about letting them hang out with my kid.

(also i had a sort of boyfriend turned creepy stalker several years ago from near Manchester, and it cracked me up how often language barriers came up when we were supposedly speaking the same language. "Yeah and I'll throw my Zimmer frame down and kick it into the touch" was a great example)
