Oh that's right, I forgot all parents had money and never went through hard times. Silly me.

There were free lunch programs. But if you didn't qualify and your parents didn't give you anything, then you were just SOL.

I feel like if they would have been giving people stuff for free regardless, I would have abused the hell out of it, since I always chose to go without lunch so I could spend my money on cigarettes.

I went without lunch a couple of times when times were tight. I didn't die.

I was always really thankful for the free school lunch, there were many days that was the only meal I would have.
I used to also eat and/or scrounge the food my classmates wouldn't eat until they made fun of me for it

Watching the news... apparently schools are "Lunch Shaming" kids for not having money on there account thing by giving them different food, like a cold sandwich... we never called it that when I was in school

I saw this, except they were making the kids do janitor work. Because the parents didn't pay. Maybe the parents should be doing the janitor work?

My school we had lunch before this class that we had to drive to, so we skipped lunch, got high, picked up a pizza at little ceasers, and spent most of the next class eating said pizza and watching the price is right. The classes were always like computer maint, web design, you could finish the whole course in a few days and do nothing the rest of the semester
