I'm guilty of cracking my gum, mostly because I figured out at young age that it drove my dad insane. (my aunt grew up doing it to him) So now i do it out of habit, I find that cracking your gum really annoys a lot of people

i just spent so long looking up what smacking gum meant, and now see that you used the term cracking gum
i'm not sure at all if one or either means blowing a bubble and popping it, which is what I assumed here
