Kind of a serious and sappy post, so if you have an aversion to that, don't read
During the overnight hours of August 14-15th of last year, the most important man in my life decided to save himself, me, and our future from the demons raging inside of him. I won't go into the details out of respect for privacy, but that night was a huge turning point. He did something I've never seen anyone with a strong addiction do. He "put down the bottle" and never picked it up again.
Now, a year later, he's finally free of the monster that was eating him (and me) alive. We have a future, a new baby on the way in just a few short weeks, and a real life to look forward to.
He says he shouldn't be anyone's role model, but he is my hero. I'm so incredibly proud of everything he's done. It's so much more than many would do, but in the end, he had the strength to do it. That makes him someone worthy of respect.
Congratulations on one year of alcoholic sobriety
@C to the J. You are truly amazing, and I love you. :sparklingheart:
