I spent 10 years in DC as a telecommunications engineer for DC Cable - AT&T. My job was to engineer and design the cable feeds to wherever. I was also the person that was in charge of the actual construction needed (which made sense since I designed it).

I get this job off Dupont Cir on Connecticut Ave N.W. Most of my work was done in the alleys, so I really didn't see what was happening street-side. I sent one of my crews out to build the plant and I get alerted on my Nextel "The owner wants to see you right away - He is NOT happy." So I roll out there to the alley off Dupont Cir and my foreman Richard tells me, "Go to the back door upstairs, they are waiting for you." I ask him what the heck was going on, and he said "You are in Big trouble!"

So I go to the 2nd floor door, knock, and some guy lets me in and says" He's expecting you." (Damn, what the heck did my clowns do this time?)
So I follow this gentleman through the hallway and walk into:

i really hated DC altogether. i didn't find any redeeming qualities about it. the cost, traffic, and pretentiousness all really irked me. the first question anyone asks is "what do you do?" FFS, i'm more than what i do for a living.

If you don't pay the parking tickets in 14 days, they double it. One of my guys got arrested for making an improper left hand turn, he lived in Annapolis MD and they arrested him there outside his house. I actually thought he was bullshitting me when I went to bail him out. Yep, improper left turn - Wash. DC. Plus the damn red lights are on the side of the red and not overhead.
