Dang it, now I have to read Sharp Objects. The series was so good, and I just like reading those kinds of twisted stories.

Do any of y'all ever get in a weird mood after finishing a book where you just don't know what you feel like reading next? It's usually only after I read a really good book, and it kind of ruins other books for me for a little while so I have to take a few days off from reading. I'm in that mood now, just finished reading The Cider House Rules by John Irving. First of his books I've ever read, now I want to read his other stuff.

I get it so bad if I'm involved in the story. Then it's like being broken up. I'm like oh. That's over now. Ok. What do I do with my life now?!!!!
Same feeling if I'm really wrapped up in a series. When I finally finish GOT here in a little bit at least I'll have the books to carry me for a little while. Then I'll love and grieve again. The cycle continues.

oh man, yes, GOT was hard for me. And The Outlanders! took me forever to recover from that...and I still haven't been able to read the latest one in either series

I've never watched it but I have unrealistic expectations of book adaptations so I don't think I ever will lol

Whenever I finish a good book I can't jump right into something else, I'm still in too deep with the world.

I'm the same way with books and shows. I binged The Wire a couple times now and get pissed that I'm not a cop for a few days.

To challenge myself to read more nonfiction, I'm doing an A-Z thing where I pick a topic for each letter of the alphabet and find a nonfiction book that fits it. This is kind of a big deal because I've literally never read a nonfiction book (that wasn't a self-help book) outside of school. Yesterday I finished "Prophet's Prey: My Seven-Year Investigation into Warren Jeffs and the Fundamentalist Church of Latter-Day Saints". It was really good! I had no idea it was still an ongoing thing. Now I'm reading "Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea". It's really good so far.

Seriously I think I have watched just about everything I could on FLDS. So disgusting. Some great stuff about it still on you tube if you can stomach any more of it. I see you have the same cheery disposition I have when it comes to some of our entertainment. FLDS, North Korea...

I had never heard of FLDS and didn't even know it wasn't the same thing as LDS, so I'm glad I read it. I tried picking books/topics I don't know much about. I don't reach much global news outside of weather stuff so I'm pretty uneducated :/ if you have any books/topics you're really interested in, feel free to share! I still have a lot of letters without topics lol

I have one for S and M already, but I'll definitely use the Ruby Ridge for Z because it sounds super interesting. Thanks!

I just finished The Great Bridge by McCullough, so much better than his other, prize-winning work. It was a paperback from the LyeBerry, and I alerted them that it has a few front leaves missing... they gave it to me! I love to have these good non-fiction books for reference, and it simply doesn't matter if it's falling apart, if I'm only looking back through it it will last me a lifetime.
It's on some pretty-good 100 Greatest non-fiction Books list, like not associated with Amazon or webzines. It's a good narrative and not technical at all.

In the latest of an unimaginative series of book choices, I started reading The Haunting of Hill House last night. It's weird and I don't know how to feel about that so far.

I've never read it or seen the show. sounds interesting, but I just don't like horror...I get scared too easily lol.

Right now I'm re-reading the Outlander series because I love them.

I'll add Outlander to the need-to-read list.

The Haunting of Hill House isn't really horror in the gory sense, but it is creepy. I've been reading it at night and last night I had nightmares kind of like some of the story. Awesome.

I am currently reading The Pickwick Papers. I have been on a Dickens kick for a little while. I imagine an old British man is reading it to me :)
