Everyone needs to brag on themselves every now and then, whether it's something small (like getting out of bed) or something big (like...becoming president?). Toot your own horn and share your good news here!

I think this thread is a fabulous idea! The world is so full of dark right now - we could all use a little bit more light. :)

Speaking of light: the forecast said it was supposed to rain all day, but the sky is blue right now! I actually just got to go for a walk in the sun!
(which is a pretty rare occurrence when the city's settled into a rainy period. Thanks Seattle, super appreciate your help with my SAD today)

(mainly posting because: see, it doesn't have to be a super big deal. More people post stuff!)

I'm not bragging, but, I was the VERY best in the industry. My customers went from the White House to the Russian Embassy and everything in between. Damn I was good...(Back in the day, I really was pretty good.)
I was a communication engineer for AT&T in Washington D.C. for quite a few years. AT&T bought TCI District CableVision (Which was the cable tv provider in DC) and my job as engineer was to design the cable television service to those addresses that still needed service or needed an upgrade. One of my jobs was for the FBI - Washington Field Office. At the time, the Field Office had 5 or 6 of the biggest white colored security cameras around the front of the building that I had ever seen. Guess the FBI was making some sort of statement by using the big cameras.
Anyway, I had all the design specs I needed except for one measurement that came from the manhole out in the middle of 4th street to the point of ingress in the basement. This was the only job I needed my son to do, go inside and take a measuring wheel into the basement and walk from the outside wall over to the communications closet. EZPZ, takes 2 minutes tops and with that measurement I can complete my blue prints.
So we arrive in front of the FBI - WFO and I am pulling toward the curb to park right in front of the doors and I see in my rear view mirror a person on a bike riding down 4th street. I was still focused on parking the car when the son opens the door and hits the guy on his bike. I heard the guy scream and the sound of the car door hitting the guys bike. Here is now the conversation between me and the son:

I said "Chris, you just hit that guy,"

My kid looks at me and replies "Fuckin' tourists!"

I then said "Get out there and see if that guy is alright, he's laying in the middle of the street"

Kid says "He's still movin' Dad, he's ok."

"Christopher John, get out there and help that guy"

So now picture this - Chris gets out of the car (and he is 6' 5") with my orange metal measuring wheel opened up (which is like 3 feet long) lifted up over his head and starts running toward the poor soul lying in the street yelling something like "Hey you in the street" and I see the guy jump up and attempt to pick his bike off the ground while trying to escape (I took notice that is was extra hard for the guy because the front wheel on the bike was bent and it was still spinning the wrong way when he tried to run away.) I actually felt sorry for the guy because he was limping away at top speed and the bike wouldn't cooperate because of the bent rim but I guess when you are terrified, you can do some amazing things. (At least 4th street was going downhill which was making it a little easier to push the bike.)

Here's the kicker, I guess the security guards saw everything on those big ass camera's that were there and they opened the door and said this to me...

    "Cable guys huh?"

(Because I am a professional) I simply replied "I'm leaving my kid Christopher with you for a couple minutes. Are you ready?"

    True story 100% (honest)
