Honestly, there seems to be so much incompetence behind the scenes at mTurk that I'm surprised it runs as smoothly as it does. However, I'm very cynical and a bit mean so you can take what I say with a grain of salt.

i don't want anyone to be elected at all. this is 2017... we have the technology to talk with masses of people at once... and the population of a few forums barely touches the definition of masses

yea, that's another point. not every worker on mturk is on a forum. many may not know about them.
amazon, as an entity, wants to have a capable 'workforce' so that they can sell their worker's time to potential and existing requesters
so amazon, as a whole, should be the ones who communicate with people
