Hello Everyone! Just Started Turking on Tuesday... have just been playing around to see how everything works. . . I see a lot of HITs with outrageous number of jobs(batches?). I get that I need to get my qualifications up, and that there are demographic qualifications that Requesters can place on a HIT. I am seeing where the good paying HITs are usually for Transcribing audio or video Files.
Does anyone have a good practice website for practicing my transcribing skills to see which HITs, I may be able to do? I am averaging about 40-45 WPM on typing test websites, but I am a bit fearful I might get a job that has several speakers I may have to keep track of. . . I guess I need to learn more about Transcription Skills.
I am not looking to earn a living doing this, but I am over 50, and I have not gotten that many interviews this year, and I am getting sick of the looks, when I walk into an interview and I can see them thinking "Great, I have to interview an old guy!" or I have heard: "Are you sure you would be able to keep up with this job, it is pretty fast paced. . ."
Anyways, while I have been unemployed, I have looked at different online "WAH" options, and have been using different websites to practice typing, since I am not doing anywhere close to the volume of typing I used to do for my job, which was a technical service rep for a pump company, where I needed to answer emails and phone calls for pump specs and sizing recommendations, quotes, govt bids, etc.
