I think you have to link to a Nintendo account first or they'll make you start over when you install on the new phone. Or at least that's how the other Nintendo mobile games tend to work, they don't use the Google/Apple accounts to save the data for some reason.

I think this gives rewards btw. I got a reward from you (100 bells or 10 bells) and a reward from my Fiance. He says he didn't send me anything so I think it's just a sometimes generated reward.

it does and whatever requests you send your friends expire after 24 hours, so if you don't get enough you have to start over
