Speaking of common sense and its absence from Amazon...yesterday had a Lyft ride...driver was a young woman . She was exhausted. She is an Amazon warehouse worker...does 10 shifts in a row of 12 hours each! Why isn't that illegal? 10 days straight , 12 hours a day. This is in Sacramento CA

uhhh... It is the Christmas season maybe? I would think UPS drivers are nonstop also. I have a friend who works in an Amazon warehouse....I have never heard of those hours but if she wants to keep her job she gets slammed this time of year

not surprising. I've heard their warehouse jobs are exhausting.

I did them last year. I walked 10 miles a day in the warehouse. Awful exhausting. Would start working at 7:30 am and got out at 6 pm. Got laid off in January from Amazon and became an Uber driver a month later. Working for Uber is like a picnic compared to working in the Amazon warehouse.

my brother in law worked there for a while, ended up having a heatstroke and he still got bitched out for missing work

I mostly agree, and could support that if you're talking about turking or a warehouse job but driving other people around in a car as a Lyft driver or otherwise being responsible for the health and safety of others when you're tired doesn't seem like a safe idea. There are similar conversations around limiting the number of hours that doctors and surgeons can or should work, for the same safety-of-others reasons.

I am pretty sure pilots and even truck drivers are limited in hours because of safety concerns
