my girlfriend and her idiot family are actually going through this with their landlord. They pissed away their money, borrowed money from their distant family to pay the 2-3 months of back rent, then when the landlord asks for decembers rent, they look at them like their stupid. I'm just thinking how did u not see this shit coming? Its fucking rent. you pay it every month. So glad I never moved in with her.

I dated a guy like that. He was a union worker at a Ford factory so he was getting paid like $20+/hr. He'd get these 4 figure paychecks every single Friday,, and by Monday, he's asking me for cash because he's broke. It was almost 20 years ago and sometimes I still ponder about it.

That is really not that uncommon. It baffles me how many of our tenants pay rent late (like the 20th, and we were nice and didn't 3-day them) and then look at me like I'm nuts when I ask if their next month's rent will be on time. My brain explodes when I have to explain, again, that it is DUE ON THE 1ST OF THE MONTH every single month!

Or people who get paid on the 5th and the 20th of the month, and want extra time to pay rent because they don't get paid until the 5th. Um. Use the check on the 20th for your rent?

I really try and be nice to people. Nicer than I should be honestly. But there comes a point where I can't keep asking a landlord to subsidize a tenant.

(And I'm calling it...more people will be late with January's rent than any time of the year except for July. Christmas and 4th of July always result in many more late payments.)

I heard back from Rob, the requester with the survey monkey survey that doesn't work well. He said he was sorry and he checked. He can't get into his own survey. So if you come across it be warned it may not work correctly. Hopefully he gets it fixed soon.
