yeah, and this was in 2010. i follow a couple german shepherd groups on facebook because we wanted to get a puppy last year (ended up with our terrier mix instead) and the going rate for purebred GSDs is around $2,000+. i didn't put an upper limit there because i have seen people ask as much as $4,000 per puppy which is absolutely batshit crazy
that's what we ended up doing. a local rescue group had a puppy day at my work and i took one home. and i didn't pay anything for Baxter either. he was going to a shelter if i didn't adopt him.
not sure how much my son paid for his Belgian Shepard but I know it was a lot. Now that dog has to be the smartest dog I ever saw, and super protective of her family
yeah i admit Baxter was probably the best dog i'll ever have. he was stupid smart and 100% loyal to me and my family. worth every penny of that other dude's money haha
"some" breeders are for sure but I do research before we buy. I have to see the parents and have to see the home. If they are only in kennels and are for breeding only, nope I ain't buying shit
