If it is any consolation, bathing dogs isn't very good for their skin. If you find like a dry shampoo and brush them it's better. Bathing them perpetuates the smell. That is why they only smell good for a little while post bath. It messes up the pH of their skin. I bathe my dog like...2 times a year. Mostly only after nasty muddy hikes and camping.

I've never given my black lab a bath. I tried to get him used to water when he was a puppy, but I didn't know what I was doing and it didn't work so well. I DO ask him to wipe his paws off when he goes through the mud/rain - which he does, with.....I guess we could say........only 'minor' complaints
