To add, only two states (NE and PA) require inheritance tax on items passed to children. A lawyer will know these things. You might want to google for your state's bar association or legal aid for lower-cost options for wills. There's gotta be some out there.

There's no tax if the estate is giving you less than 1 million (that has been upped by the Trump tax bill to 3million)
