OK. The bars show "Viewership, by year, in the millions." That is not an average; that is "Viewership, by year, in the millions." So that is what the X-axis label should tell us. The X-axis label should tell us--explicitly--what the bars represent.

Such a bar chart can show an average (an exponential moving average or a "simple" moving average or some such) but they don't tell us that is what they are doing.
