oh, warrant officers in the Marines are generally "experienced experts" in their fields and give advice to commanders, but that's just a general overview. Too many different types, and jobs

Same as all our forces. WOs are specialists in whichever "field" and more often than not do not have a command function, except for Army (and perhaps Marine) chopper pilots during the Viet Nam war who were WOs.
