Every time someone asks me about what I do for work and I mention mturk, they all wanna know what it is. Then they actually
see what it is and their eyes glaze over. I lost count of how many friends and family members have asked to get in on mturk (taking my kind heart's time and energy to explain/help) and wasted my time. I used to get friends coming out of the woodwork asking about my 'work from home' job lol. Amazon made that way easier to deal with by simply not accepting every application. (Everyone who has asked me about mturk and signed up has been rejected.)
In the end, this kind of work just is not for everyone. And I've learned it's best to just avoid talking about work, too. Lost count also of how many snide, judgmental comments people can make about self-employment work. Like, "When are you going to get a real job?" "You can't support yourself on that, really, can you?" "Oh, you're "working"?...
sure." And let's not forget all the people who assume because you work from home you're available 24/7.
But I'll never forget the day I quit my dead-end-retail-drag-your-ass-out-of-bed-for-someone-else's-paycheck and began the life of turking in pajamas...with my own schedule...being my own boss.
If I could go back and make the decision all over again, I wouldn't change a thing.
