Apparently even Google thinks it's strange that people work on their HITs...because after a day of mostly Google HITs, I can't access google on my cell phone without getting a captcha accompanied by an alert that Google has identified strange activity from my IP address. Like, we work for you (in a way) give me a break! :p

Good personal news - there's a company that has a project for copywriting that's $6.20 per assignment, and 2-3/hour is really no problem at all, and it's a long term assignment. Real possibility for good money.

Bad news - it's fucking OneSpace, aka CROWDSOURCE.

I've been doing the odd work for them for a while now, since they left Mturk, and there has been decent work and not so decent work. This could be a gold mine...but now the key problem shows up - arrogant, ill-informed editors.

"Their style doesn't match my personal style, even though it fits the assignment criteria just fine? FUCK YOU, REWORK. Using a word that I don't like? FUCK YOU, REWORK. I don't like your face? FUCK YOU, REWORK."

It was fine for the last day and a half until this twit shows up, spewing absolute nonsense about switching from 3rd to 1st person (didn't happen, and I still can't figure out what he was referring to, since 3rd is objective and 1st is internal. 3rd to 2nd maybe, not 3rd to FIRST. "You used this word twice. change it." Fuck you, there's no fucking rule about that. "You used a serial comma, change it." FUCK YOU, it's an Oxford comma and there is NO RULE AGAINST IT.

Ugh. Venting over. Gonna go throw a brick through someone's window and I'll be fine.

do you just sign up on that page, or is that for people looking for data...?
sorry, I went to work. that's the advertising page for places that crowd source (empiricaljury as an mturk requester), and is aimed at lawyers.

there are different focus groups you can sign up with, and you want to try to find them locally, so that you can show up in person. the place down the street from me has had like four visits from me.

the best was when I taste tested grape juice for two hours for almost $400.

(side note, I'm allergic to something in wine made from grapes, and juice that hasn't JUST been opened usually hurts also)

That has always been their problem IMO, even when they were on mturk. They used to post HITs where you had to determine if these pdf files were product manuals. I got a bunch of rejections once because the people checking them didn't understand what some of the manuals were for and it took me like a week to convince them what they were for and get the rejections overturned. I stopped working for them after that.

Try again, but tell us how you really feel this time. :p

You have a good contact over there with OS? That might help.
HAHAHAHA no. There is no good contact at OS. There is a forum that is heavily monitored by OS employees who care more about their quotas than about individual problems. Real problems routinely get overlooked or outright ignored. It's not as bad as it was in the nightmare days of "compliment" and "complement" apparently being the same fucking word, but it's still bad.
