You make it sound easy. The different color batters though, I could see that easily turning into a mud color if not careful.

My mom always made this cake, she used coconut for the fur and would dye some bblue or pink for the bow tie. I still have her form for the bowtie somewhere, when you cut out the bowtie it leaves the ears.

You really need to rethink that decision. That has to be one of the worst TO's i've seen for rejections in awhile.
